2013 Summits and Events

For the fourth year in a row, Outdoor Nation will host Summits so that you - the Millennial generation - can fight the growing divide between young people and nature and inspire more Americans to get outdoors and active. Join other outdoor enthusiasts and champions, solve the most pressing outdoor issues and commit to taking action - together.

ON-IT Summits (Outdoor Nation Intensive Training)

Boston, Massachusetts: September 14-15 - Details

ON-IT Summits provide a rigorous leadership and activation experiences for top Outdoor Nation community members interested in taking on greater responsibility and bringing their ideas to the next level. Over two-days, outdoor leaders, activists and social entrepreneurs share experiences, successes and challenges of ongoing community projects and participate in workshops on community organizing, communications, project development and advocacy.

Signature Summits

Chapel Hill (Triange Area), North Carolina: June 29-30 - Details

A two-day event (with camping!), the Outdoor Nation Signature Summit brings together Millennials working to find solutions to the challenges that keep people indoors. Participants will discuss outdoor barriers, brainstorm creative ideas and receive funding for the best and brightest projects...voted on by fellow Summit participants.

Millennial-Led Summits

New for 2013, Millennial-Led Summits are one-day events developed and led entirely by Millennials. These Summits will be held in the original Signature Summit cities of New York, New YorkDenver ColoradoTwin Cities, MinnesotaSan Francisco, California; and Atlanta, Georgia. Participants will discuss the issues keeping young people indoors in their community and work on removing the barriers that reduce access to outdoor activities. The group will agree one top issue and develop a project that acts as a solution to getting more Millennials outside and active. The best project will be funded by Outdoor Nation – bringing the your Summit’s innovative idea to life! And, because we believe in working hard and playing hard, half of the day will be spent enjoying the Great Outdoors with other passionate outdoor enthusiasts and Millennial leaders.

National Congress

Washington, DC: June 24-26

Stand up. Speak out. Make a difference. Outdoor Nation’s fourth annual National Congress, held in Washington, DC, provides a platform for young people from across the country to meet with and influence national decision-makers. Delegates will join with key partners to elevate outdoor issues and ensure that youth have a meaningful voice in the national discussion around reconnecting young people and the outdoors.
