Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how the new ON website has made us less connected and I don't know about you but I don't feel like we are affecting other people that are not outsiders. Just wanted to see if anyone else is noticing.

Thanks for your comments Cale. We appreciate all feedback and would love to hear from others.
This begs the question then of what can you and others do to help fix this? What made you feel more of a connection before? What do you feel has changed or been lost in the transition?
Well like the challenges arent updated as often so I feel less involed and their is really no way to express ideas as much as I could on the old ON website

By the way Cale and others. There IS a challenge up right now! You should check it out. It's called Operation Outdoor Nation and has WAY more prizes than the old site ever had.

The new site tries to be too much like facebook and other social sites. I thought the inputs we gave in surveys would lead to a group or something to that effect on facebook; not an actually site similar to it. If I want that, I will use facebook.

It is hard to put my finger on the way I dislike this new site. The other site just seemed and felt more interactive and simple to find a way to post a comment or question, allowing other people to gain knowledge or offer input. I actually felt proud to invite friends to join me on the old site, and somehow, that has changed with the new site.

Again, it can be hard to understand my distaste for this site, since the content is more-or-less similar; people helping one another with outdoor gear questions and queries as to where cool, but the road-less-traveled areas of wilderness are. I guess that is all I have for now.

I agree completely with Joseph. What I liked about the old site was how the Forum/message board/whatever was the primary focus of the boards. It made more people use it, and made the sense of community stronger. The new site seems a little bit more impersonal. I'm not sure if we need to go back to points, although I kind of liked that. One other thing that Facebook has, but might be nice if we added to the current layout is a chat function... so we can talk more directly to people without posting on their pages.

Good suggestions Richard. Let's run it by Ivan.

Thanks for the feedback Richard! I am working on a few ideas for the website and hope to be able to implement in early 2012. Happy Holidays!
