Movies about the Outdoors

I finally sat down and watch "127 Hours." I LOVED it.

It got me thinking about some of my other favorite outdoor movies, like "Into the Wild" and "North Face". While these movies show some of the dangers of outdoor exploration, they also show the beauty, exhilaration, challenge, and peace that often drives us to the outdoors.


What outdoor movies do you love? Any recommendations?

Grizzly Man is so bizarre I couldn't stop watching it...not sure I'd call it good though...


Play Again is a great film about getting kids into the outdoors and reducing their screen time, but you might have to find a screening or host one to see it (http://playagainfilm.com/).

I've been waiting for someone to host a screening of it in my town, I may just have to organize one myself!

I will have to check out Grizzly Man, sounds interesting!

National Geographic did a great film on the Appalachian Trial. Definitely worth a watch since you can stream it on Netflix.

Just saw WASTELAND... and its a great documentary of an artist connecting with people living in trash. He makes the world recognize them and not forget.

This might be a cheesy response, but Cliffhanger is one of my guilty pleasure movies. It is so over the top, Silvester Stalone-ish and lacking a real plot, yet the scenery is absolutely beautiful. It is just a fun movie to watch and mock with friends.
