2012 Summits

Outdoor Nation Summits

For the third year in a row, Outdoor Nation hosted Summits so that you - and your generation - could work together to find solutions to the challenges that are keeping people indoors. Thank you to all of the passionate outdoor champions and changemakers who participated! And, of course, thanks to our awesome sponsors who ensure that Summits are free to participants.

2012 Signature Summits

Los Angeles: June 30 - July 1
Austin: July 14 - 15
Boston: July 21 - 22

In 2012, Outdoor Nation hosted Signature Summits in three new markets, including Los Angeles, Boston and Austin. A two-day event (with camping!), the Outdoor Nation Signature Summit brought together Millennials working to find solutions to the challenges that keep people indoors. Participants discussed outdoor barriers, brainstormed creative ideas and received funding for the best and brightest projects...voted on by fellow Summit participants.

2012 ON-IT Summits (Outdoor Nation Intensive Training)

New York: June 23 - 24
Denver: September 22 - 23
Twin Cities: October 6 - 7
San Francisco: October 20 - 21
Atlanta: November 3 - 4

In 2012, Outdoor Nation expanded its programming beyond traditional Summits to provide a rigorous leadership and activation experience for top community members interested in taking on greater responsibility and bringing their ideas to the next level. The Outdoor Nation ON-IT Summits brought leaders, activists and social entrepreneurs together in New York, Denver, Twin Cities, San Francisco and Atlanta. Over the two-day Summits, attendees shared experiences, successes and challenges of ongoing community projects and participated in workshops on community organizing, communications, project development and advocacy.

2012 National Congress

Washington, DC: July 22 - 29

Outdoor Nation’s third annual National Congress was held in Washington, DC as part of America’s Great Outdoors Week. The Summit provided a platform for 15 youth from across the country to meet with and influence national decision-makers. These delegates joined with key partners of the Outdoor Alliance for Kids to elevate outdoor issues and ensure that youth have a meaningful voice in the national discussion around reconnecting young people and the outdoors.
