There simply is no substitute for Outdoor Nation Signature Summits – a proven strategy for engaging a new, diverse and passionate community of young leaders and outdoor champions. Attendees identify the region’s most pressing outdoor issues, develop strategies to solving these challenges and commit to taking action – together. After the Summit, participants work together to get more Americans outside through innovative, on-the-ground projects developed during the Summit.
This year, Outdoor Nation will head to three new cities, providing networking opportunities, discussion forums and critical funding for youth-led projects. Find out more about 2013 Signature Summits!
Transforming outdoor enthusiasts into change-makers, Outdoor Nation delivers more intensive leadership development opportunities as a next step for select Signature Summit participants and other leaders interested in taking their project ideas to the next level. Outdoor Nation provides ON-It Summits in each of the locations where Signature Summits were convened the year before. Each ON-It engages at least 100 diverse youth and provides training in project development, advocacy, fundraising and community organizing.
In 2013, Outdoor Nation will host ON-It Summits in Los Angeles, Boston and Austin. Learn about 2013 ON-It Summits!
Each year, Outdoor Nation convenes a National Congress in Washington DC - bringing up to 25 delegates together to develop a national outdoor agenda, set priorities and commit to an action plan. These delegates join with other youth leaders from key partners to elevate outdoor issues and ensure that Millennials have a meaningful voice in the national discussion around reconnecting young people and the outdoors. The team meets with members of Congress and administration officials – hosting private meetings and public briefings on a range of important topics related to youth and the outdoors.
Financial support for projects developed during Summits is critical to the success of Outdoor Nation – investing in new ideas that get Americans outdoors and active, identifying new leaders and creating community. To date, Outdoor Nation has invested in more than 150 youth-led projects that are now being implemented across the country. Expect more funding for more on-the-ground projects in 2013!
