At the Park office, visitors can access a self-guided trail map that accent different points of interest along the trails.
When we visited water levels were low so the trail and the surrounding land were all exposed. Being a swamp area (floodplain) several times a years the Congaree River will flood into this area and cover both the soil and bases of the trees. Therefore, large Bald Cypresses and Tupelo trees are dominant in the park.
