Music Review: Sleigh Bells

August has officially hit and which means the countdown to the end of summer, and all that comes with that, has begun. So, to ward off seasonal affective disorder I figured I would suggest a loud, energetic band to get you and your blood moving. Sleigh Bells was the obvious choice. This indie pop duo is composed of Derek Miller, formally of Poison the Well, and Alexis Krauss, former lead singer of Rubyblue. Derek is the primary song writer and composer for the group while Alexis supplies the…See More

Music Review: Sun Airway

Summer is finally here and not a moment too soon if you ask me. (I know at the time of this writing it is technically not officially summer yet but close enough) This time of year brings about a certain mood in everyone. School is wrapping up for many folks which means beach trips must be planned. Being a beach kid I don’t think there is anything better than creating a playlist to blast as the wind fills your car on the journey to the shore.I guess since this is a music blog I should suggest a…See More

Music Review: Deer Tick

Well it is spring here in DC, a warm 65 and sunny. I do hope it stays this way, wearing shorts in January is a favorite pastime of mine. Anyway, weather report is now over. My previous music posts were only tenuously related to the outdoors and this one will prove no different with one caveat. The band takes its name from something that is the bane of many east coast outsiders existence, the deer tick. Unlike the parasite you will want to check this band out. Deer Tick (the band) hail from…See More

Music: The Tallest Man on Earth

The leaves are off the tree which means it's that singer/song writer time of year again. Time to pull out the old guitar and sing around the fire, unless of course, you live in DC (my residence) where the temperature is still in the sixties. My music recommendation this month is not for an album per se but for an artist. The Tallest Man on Earth or Kristian Matsson hails from the great north of Sweden. He is most often compared to Dylan, which is a title that many before him have donned but…See More

Music Blog: Freelance Whales - Weathervanes Review

Summer is over all too soon. Some of us are returning to school, some of us are returning from vacation to get back to 40 hour work week ways, but all the same we long for the care free days in the summer heat. Fret not, there is still plenty of time to get outside and enjoy those remaining UV rays. Personally, my plan is to procrastinate from school work as much as possible by listening to music, which brings me to my music recommendation of the month: Freelance Whales. Freelance Whales, FW…See More
