5 Million Steps - A Documentary Following Every Step of an Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike

Hi all

This is my current project in the making -- a 3rd person point of view documentary following every sing step of an Appalachian Trail thru-hike.

The majority of the footage will be time lapsed, slowing down to real time to reveal the best shots, stories, adventures and misadventures. The thoughts, stories, and experiences of hikers who pass me by will narrate the film’s time lapsed sequences.

I’m just starting to raise awareness for my project because funding from friends and family just isn’t enough to cover this project. Filming 5 months on the trail introduces challenges of its own. So, if this peaks your interest at all please help spread the word: 'like' the project on Facebook, tweet, tell your friends and family.

I’m hosting the fund raising campaign on www.indiegogo.com/5-Million-Steps and my own website www.matthewodette.com

Any extra funds raised that aren't used on gear and expenses will be donated to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy to help preserve the trail.

What do ya'll think? Would this film interest you? Any ideas to add?

What a great idea! I bet you will inspire many to get out there and hike, which is a great thing!

Thank you Stefanie & Cashea. I've sent a lot of emails out to different companies and organizations, they all have liked the concept so far. I just might be able to get this ball rolling

I think it's a great idea. I like the addition of stories from people on the trail!
