Concrete Safaris City Surfers After School Program

What an amazing first three week for the CS City Surfers! It’s been a bit rainy, but that’s not stopping us from playing games, staying active, and trying new things.

Our focus this past month has been teamwork. Communication, cooperation and collaboration have been the foundation to making our team grow. Day by day our City Surfers’ teamwork skills are being put to the test. Whether we are growing as leaders through games and challenges, bike riding, exploring NYC, or by taking pride in our crops, we get things done right!

In a couple weeks we are supposed to shut down our farm for the winter. However, how can we prepare for winter when our farm is still harvesting lots and lots of crops-- Peppers to be more exact!
We have: Habanero, Serrano, Jalapeno, Hot Portugal, Lady Bell, Red Bell, Thai Chili, and Hungarian Wax Peppers. With all these delicious and super HOT peppers we needed to figure out what to make. Our first experiment was pickled Hungarian Wax Peppers. It was a perfect combination of hot and sweet. Everyone was pretty excited to try it and all reservations were gone after the first few ranted and raved about how delicious it was! Here is a few reactions!

Can't wait for another blog? Check us out at www.concretesafaris.org or on connect with us at Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Our user name is 'ConcreteSafaris'.
